Bob Denison founded Denison Yachting 21 years ago and his company has sold more yachts over 80’ (24.38 m) the last two years than any other brokerage company in the world.
The American boating industry was rocked this morning by the latest industry consolidation as it was announced that OneWater (NASDAQ: ONEW) has reached an agreement to acquire Denison Yachting. Denison has 21 offices in the U.S. and its brokerage business handles vessels from 25’ (7.62 m) to some of the largest superyachts. It is reported that last year Denison Yachting sold yachts with a total value of nearly a billion dollars. Denison’s top line was reportedly $80 million.
In an exclusive interview this morning with BoatTEST, Bob Denison said that now his company will have access to OneWater’s "brain trust" which has some of the most creative and business savvy minds in the business. For the 88, Sirena Yachts once again collaborated with legendary naval architect German Frers to develop a hull intended to cover long distances smoothly and efficiently, even in less-than-ideal conditions. With twin 1,550-hp MAN V12 diesels running at 1250 rpm, her range exceeds 1,040 nautical miles. Back off to 1000 rpm and 9.3 knots to cover 1,617.7 nm. One of the things that never ceases to amaze us is how slow most American builders are to see a future trend. Basically, it takes about 20 years for Americans to get the message – just look at inflatable RIBs and catamarans. The U.S. was the last to adopt both in any numbers. The exception that proves the rule is the Aviara line, a division of MasterCraft. All the stops were pulled out when the AV36 was designed and fitted out. Dorothea III is a 147’ (45 m) expedition yacht that was designed to explore the globe while being self-sufficient and leaving a low carbon footprint. She has cruised more than 170,000 miles in the past eight years and has undergone three major refits in the past decade. First launched in 2019, the Jet Capsule is now in production. It’s a 25’9” (7.85 m) vessel with an 11’1” (3.38 m) beam and it’s powered by a hybrid diesel-electric powertrain linked to a Hamilton 292 jet drive.
