A NEW AZIMUT SERIES. At the Venice Boat Show this summer, Azimut — the world's largest builder of motoryachts — debuted its new Seadeck 6, the first model of a new series. They call her a "Fun Island" but her attributes don't stop there. While her stern beach and water playground are what set her apart, forward she takes care of business. We took her for a sea trial from Venice to the Aegean Sea.
TRAWLER TUESDAY. The Kadey-Krogen 48 AE is a couple’s passage-maker displaying exceptionally rich woodworking throughout. She’s powered by a single 200-hp John Deere. With 1,000 gallons (3,785 L) of fuel, her approximate range exceeds 4,700 miles at 6 knots and 1,980 miles at 8 knots, per the company.
PERFORMANCE VIDEO. For those with the skills to drive her, the Fountain 38LS almost ensures you get to the fish first, with a WOT speed of 75.7 mph powered by triple 400-hp Mercury outboards. The double-stepped hull includes a running pad and notched transom for maximum performance.
PRE-OWNED YACHT. This nearly-new stepped-hull Valhalla V-55 has just 56 hours on the quad 600-hp Mercurys and reportedly will run 60 mph. She’s loaded, with three 22” Garmin MFDs, radar, bow thruster, Seakeeper, FLIR night vision camera and more. Below is a queen bed, head and convertible dinette. The cabin and the helm area have AC.
TECH TUESDAY. Vinyl wrapping can be done on even large yachts and it is a lot less money than a paint job. It provides more protection than paint and it's a far easier replacement. Plus, bold graphics add excitement to your boat.
WHAT WENT WRONG? Veteran yacht designer and writer Chris Freer discusses the key issues that most likely led to the sinking of Bayesian, which has captured the attention of the boating world.
ADVENTURE YACHTING. The Fleming trawler Venture takes on COVID, icebergs and fast-running 20’ spring tides in Ford’s Terror in their voyage through Alaska. This is the last American pristine cruising ground.
