NEW CAPT. BOOMIES REVIEW. The Offshore 65 CE can be built to the buyer’s specifications to a greater degree than we see with many other builders. For example, this 65-footer has a 19'6" (5.94 m) beam, which we often find on 90' (27.43 m) vessels. Customized details include heated decks in the heads, four staterooms for a large family and even a special cabin for the owner's dog, Timber.
PERFORMANCE VIDEO. Twin 600-hp Mercury Verados propelled the Formula 380 SSC to nearly 60 mph in our test, but that's not the big story of this high-quality, high-utility coupe. Her aft cockpit and extended swim platform are made for sunning, entertaining and watersports action. And, she overnights four.
PROPELLERS. One advantage of Sharrow Props is that when you have a gang of people aboard, boats get on plane a lot faster. In the case of a Sportsman Master 267 that was tested, she was 9.3 MPH faster at 3000 RPM. This Sportsman bayboat was faster at all RPMs with Sharrow props compared to old technology.
NEW BOATS. SeaWell Boats has asked us to invite our BoatTEST Members to the debut of their two new offshore fishing boats — the 345 XL and 290CC. The boats debut this Sunday, July 14, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. We're told that there will be special new-boat discounts, appetizers, an open bar and a band. It sounds like fun to us.
Fun Shakedown Cruise. Two South Florida brothers transport a ton of watertoys from Ft. Lauderdale to a white sand beach in the Bahamas in an Axopar 37. Cruising at 30 mph, she crossed in 3-4 footers with a full cabin of passengers and a boat-load of water toys. Then the fun begins.
PRODUCT REVIEW. The FliteScooter makes board foiling easy thanks to the addition of a mast with handlebars. It's sort of like a bicycle with training wheels. The boards can run up to 15 mph and operate for up to 90 minutes.
