FIRST LOOK. The Sirena 48 Hybrid features coupé styling and a serial hybrid powertrain aimed at more sustainable yachting. Driven by twin 213kW electric motors, she reportedly tops out at 14 knots and can travel up to 30 NM in near silence before starting the generators. See her at Cannes from September 10-15.
PERFORMANCE VIDEO. The Riviera 64 SMY has the classic lines and large open cockpit of a bluewater convertible, and we can see a family comfortably living on her for weeks as they meander through tropical islands. She’s also ready for an occasional open sea crossing — at 9.7 knots, her range exceeds 700 NM. WOT speed, for tournament anglers, was 33.7 knots in our tests.
PRE-OWNED YACHT. This Leopard 53 Powercat is powered by economical twin Yanmar 370 hp diesels and she accommodates six. She includes bow thrusters, four Raymarine Axiom MFDs, autopilot, Northern Lights 12 kW generator and a Spectra watermaker.
FEATURES VIDEO. The Antares 8 is a relatively affordable way to enjoy the pleasures of boat ownership in a compact, trailerable package. This "Pocket Cruiser" (she is 26'5" LOA) has a cuddy cabin that can sleep two and a dining table that doubles as a berth for one. Power is a single 250-hp outboard.
PRODUCT REVIEW. A fenderboard from Fenderboards.com not only protects your boat’s hull and finish, but it can actually be an attractive part of your boating equipment thanks to polished stainless steel and gloss varnished solid teak construction.
Raymarine’s Axiom series can now be linked to Power-Pole Shallow Water Anchors and to their powerful MOVE trolling motors. A new Drift Control feature allows the angler to select the structure, drift times and distance. Read the report for other features.
ELECTRIFYING NEWS. The 11th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge saw a new speed record for the event, 35.54 mph over an 18-mile (30 km) course. An electric RIB pushed by a 300 kW / 400 hp inboard drive went 0-50 mph in 10 seconds.
