The all-electric-powered Ingenity 23E was named the most innovative new small boat of the year at the recent Miami Boat Show.
The Ingenity 23E is a new boat concept that marries an aluminum, catamaran-like hull platform with a fiberglass superstructure to create an electric-powered luxury, protected-water dayboat. She has the stability of a catamaran, the interior room and comfort of a deluxe pontoon boat, the protective windshield of a dual console, and the stern watersport functionality of a sterndrive bowrider.
Her 63 kW battery pack carries enough energy for all-day sedate cruising or several hours of planing-speed activities. Her 150 kW continuous (about 200-hp) electric motor drives a Mercury Bravo 4 forward-facing counter-rotating dual propeller. But, that’s just the beginning...
At the Miami Boat Show, Tiara Yachts announced plans for the company’s largest yacht to date, the EX 60. She’s a 60’3” (18.36 m) long yacht with a 16’11” (51.6 m) beam that blends design elements of the company’s LS and inboard coupe lines. More...
In addition to her large aft “Adventure Deck,” guests are likely to be drawn to Maritimo M75’s enclosed flying bridge or skylounge. We’ve made no secret of our appreciation for sky lounges. Interior stairs lead to the upper deck that is climate-controlled with two lounging areas that can convert to additional berths. There’s also a full bar with stools and a companion can join the captain at the upper helm to keep an eye out for icebergs. More...
SeaWater Pro watermakers have many advantages, but perhaps the most important one for someone who owns a mid-sized yacht is that they can be retrofit in most applications by the boat owner. They don’t cost anywhere near what the larger ones installed at the factory do. They come in 20- and 40 gph units. See what else Capt. Steve likes about them. More...
Harris’s impressive new Grand Mariner series has three models: 230, 250 and 270. They are all triple-toon designs that can have from 90 to 400-hp single outboard Mercury engines, depending on the model. (Harris is owned by Brunswick.) They have sculptured fiberglass bulwarks that have eye appeal as well as function, instead of the standard thin metal fencing found on less expensive toons.
We were surprised at the level of fit-and-finish, plush upholstery and upscale details, including an available joystick, on this series. Standard tube diameter is 25" (63.5 cm) but 27" (68.58 cm) pontoons are available. The 27" toons are a $760 upcharge on all three models and we recommend this option for increased buoyance and performance. See our video to learn why we’re so dazzled by this new line. More...
Cruisers Yachts’ 60 Fly shares flagship status with the 60 Cantius and the manufacturer chooses to take the approach of including the features people want in a luxury yacht. For amenities, she comes with a washer and dryer, grill, wine refrigerator, ice maker and dishwasher. The captain will appreciate the aft docking station. More...
Axopar offers its twin-stepped 36’9” (11. 2 m) hull in three versions including the 37 Sun Top that we tested. It has a hardtop with a retractable fabric sunroof that can shade the helm and cockpit areas. Her reversible helm seats create a booth-style seating area around a table. Her versatility is enhanced with a standard cabin in the bow and an aft berth is available. More...
The Wall Street Journal reported a few hours ago that French authorities said they seized a yacht belonging to a company majority owned by Igor Sechin, the chief executive of Russian oil producer Rosneft. A second superyacht was also seized yesterday by Germany. More...
