Schaefer Yachts has the largest 5-axis router in South America. It is the largest we’ve seen at any boat factory.
Over the last several years, Schaefer Yachts in Brazil has emerged as one of the world’s major builders of premium fiberglass yachts — from dayboats, express cruisers and flybridge cruisers to motoryachts — ranging from 33’ to 83’ (10 m to 25 m). Nothing will drive this message home better than Capt. Steve’s tour of the Schaefer Yachts facility. This is a “must-see” video for anyone interested in this size and type of yacht. More...
The concept started as a sundeck on the coach roof of an express cruiser for ladies working on their tan. Then, a steering wheel and controls were added with a toadstool seat. Finally, Galeon took the idea full-Monty, creating a low top-hamper flying bridge that is functional in fair weather but can be covered, reverting back to an express cruiser when conditions warrant. Now you see it, now you don’t. More...
Capt. Steve inspected the 28 Molokai closely and was surprised at some of the things he discovered.
Someone once said that timing is everything and that is certainly true of the center console cat configuration. More than 500 were sold last year in the U.S. alone and the numbers are growing. The twin-outboard Aquila 28 Molokai is the latest entry into the genre, has incorporated most of the features of its competitors and added a few new ones of its own. Hauling a sailboat or powerboat with a deep keel for basic maintenance can get pricy. Some old salts like using a tidal grid, a structure that’s built near a pier or dock that supports the vessel when the tide goes out. Tie the boat in place, let the water ebb and get the job done before the tide comes back in. More...
Even when a sterndrive or outboard engine is shifted to neutral, the propeller can still be hazardous to swimmers, boarders, skiers and tubers. Before anyone enters the water, turn off the engine. Do the same when picking up a rider or skier.
