Old "2-Stroke Boats" Have Problems Sharrow Props Can Fix
SHARROW GIVES STERN LIFT. Jupiter’s classic 31 was introduced in 1989 and it was designed for 2-stroke engines as virtually all boats were at the time. Two-strokes have prodigious torque at low RPM and that's where 4-stroke engines are the weakest. The result is they squat, the bow soars, the skipper loses the horizon and they struggle to get over their bow wave. At 2500 RPM, this boat with Sharrow props was on plane going 8.2 mph faster than the same boat with standard props, which was still mushing along.
If your center console or bowrider was designed before 1996, chances are that it was intended for 2-stroke power. In the early 2000s, many builders just put 4-stroke engines on boats designed for 2-strokes and hoped no one would complain. If you have a boat meeting the above description, Sharrow may have the solution.
