The new Scout 377 LXF is the manufacturer’s latest S-class boat, which means she’s equipped with luxurious amenities. She also features carbon-epoxy construction with carbon fiber and E-glass infused with 100% epoxy resin. Scout is the only center console builder we know of that uses all-epoxy resin, which is much stronger and more durable than polyester — and is not water permeable. Epoxy is far more costly than polyester. This aspect of the boat alone sets her apart from most other expensive boats in class. When Capt. Steve tested the Leopard 46 Powercat, he did so in real-world conditions that gave him a good idea of how she handled. Cats handle differently than monohulls. For example, when it gets rough you go faster, not slower. Her narrow hulls pierce the waves rather than pounding into them. In a following sea, she would come into the wave just ahead, slice through it with her narrow bows and had enough buoyancy to ride up and over the crest. At the Palm Beach International Boat Show, Capt. Steve had the opportunity to check out the new 33’9” (10.33 m) V33 from Schaefer Yachts. She’s an outboard-powered day boat with convertible seating in the cockpit and bow and an on-deck galley. Mediterranean sunshades extend off the hardtop to cover the cockpit and bow for full-length sun protection. Bulwarks are 27” (68.58 cm) high and have padded bolsters that run from bow to stern for added security.
