Riviera 46 SMY

Social Bridge, Simple Handling

Riviera 46 SMY - Seaworthyness

EASILY MANAGABLE. Finding a true flybridge in a yacht under 50 feet can be a challenge, but this Riviera pulls it off beautifully. There is a  great elevated social area, and surprisingly, she's still a breeze to maneuver. The three staterooms and user-friendly systems make her a smart choice if you're thinking of moving up in size.

Silent Yachts SY80

Silence on the High Seas

Silent SY80

SUNLIGHT AS FUEL She is a solar-powered catamaran that trades the rumble of diesels for the sound of the wake. Silent-Yachts pioneered this tech, and the 80 is the peak of that effort. With a massive solar array and enough battery storage to run her systems overnight without a generator, she offers a different kind of freedom. No vibrations, no fumes—just 80 feet of carbon-reinforced hull ready to cross oceans on sunshine.

Boats Have No Brakes!

Boneheaded boater - Boat vs Boat

Welcome back to our weekly look at boating gone wrong, where “just hit the brakes” doesn’t apply. In this episode, you’ll see docking mishaps that prove if you come in faster than you’re willing to hit, your fenders won’t save you.

The errors aren’t just on the water. Ashore, a jet ski is towed by bicycle and a trailer is hauled off-road without tires. Watch to see which misadventure does the most damage—and pick up clear lessons on what not to do with your boat or PWC.

Practice Question - Answer

B. to right the raft if it capsizes

Inflatable liferafts are designed with righting straps (or handholds) specifically located on the bottom of the hull. If a raft inflates upside down or is flipped by a wave, a crew member in the water can grab these straps, plant their feet on the buoyancy tube, and use their body weight to leverage the raft back into an upright position.
