Choosing Your First Island Footprint

Bahamas Views

BEYOND BIMINI OVERCROWDING Crossing the Gulf Stream is a rite of passage, but the paperwork shuffle shouldn't be. Choosing where to clear customs can change the entire trajectory of a Bahamian run. Some ports offer a quick stamp and fuel, while others provide a gateway to the Out Islands. She—the vessel—needs a captain who knows which docks are deep enough and which offices stay open past sunset.

Data-Driven Performance At Sea

Helios-Marine-Brothers-11-28-25

AEROSPACE TECH ON WATER Most electric attempts simply swap an engine for a battery, but real progress requires rethinking the entire platform. Helios Marine is blending aerospace-inspired flight controllers with a specific hull shape to minimize resistance. This tech-heavy approach aims to make electric boating practical for more than just a quick harbor cruise. She represents a shift toward data-driven performance where every bit of energy is accounted for.

Practice Question - Answer

B. stern light

A "combined lantern" (Option A) is only permitted for vessels less than 20 meters. Since this vessel is exactly 20 meters, she is too large for a combo-lantern and must carry separate sidelights and a stern light. Option C (red over green) is optional, not required. Therefore, while she must have a stern light, the wording of these practice exams usually looks for the specific requirement that excludes the combo-lantern.
