OUTBOARDS, DONE RIGHT Formula’s 310 Bowrider Outboard blends performance lineage with a layout built for staying out all day. Twin 350-hp Verados push her to just under 50 mph, yet she settles easily into a controlled cruise. Storage runs deep, seating adapts quickly, and the optional hardtop adds real shelter without closing her in. She feels purposeful without losing her easygoing side.
STEP HULL ATTITUDE Axopar’s 29 Sun Top carries the brand’s Finland-led, modular thinking into a 30-footer that runs like a bigger boat. Her twin-stepped 22° hull and twin 200-hp Mercs produced about 50 mph on test day, with a thrilling feel in high-speed turns.

The Maiora 42 Megayacht
Guest Life Comes First
DECKS, REIMAGINED Maiora’s 42 Exuma flips the usual yacht playbook. Guest cabins move up to the main deck, technical spaces drop below, and social areas stretch uninterrupted from bow to stern. The result is a concept that prioritizes daylight, flow, and how people actually live aboard, paired with performance numbers that quietly surprise for a 42-meter platform.
WIRELESS DONE RIGHT AquaAmp’s latest charging hardware tackles a familiar onboard problem: keeping phones and tablets charged without loose cables or fragile mounts. With waterproof construction, magnetic alignment, and up to 25W wireless output, the system feels designed around real boating conditions rather than borrowed consumer tech.
CES POWER PREVIEW David Faulkes, CEO of the Brunswick Corporation, announced an 808-hp “concept” engine this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Few details were given, but it appears to be built on the naturally-aspirated 7.6 L V12 600-hp platform that was introduced several years ago. The engine's large displacement provides a massive foundation for power gains. For comparison, high-performance automotive V12s of similar displacement often exceed 1,000 hp when twin-turbocharged.
FYI – We hear unconfirmed rumors in the industry that Yamaha is working on a 1,000-hp outboard engine. Stay tuned.
Boneheaded Boaters of the Week
They Dropped It!
RAMP REALITY CHECK Launching should be routine. Somehow, it rarely is. From vehicles sliding into the water to boats parting ways with their trailers, this week’s clips show how fast things go sideways when the checklist gets skipped. Add a dock collision, a bridge miscalculation, and a tangle involving an anchor that spirals fast, and the result is a full highlight reel of avoidable chaos.
Answer C) Propose or answer one or two blast whistle signals given by the other vessel if passing within half a mile
Under Inland Rules, meeting and passing arrangements are made by whistle signals, and either vessel may initiate them. With no current and a normal meeting, the correct action is to propose or respond to one- or two-blast signals to agree on how to pass.
