FIRST LOOK. The new Neptunus 750SL features a fully-enclosed skylounge and an inspired new superyacht-style helm designed by Gregory C. Marshall Naval Architect Ltd. Access the skylounge from the interior of the yacht, or from an aft deck staircase. The skylounge offers outstanding visibility for piloting the yacht, and offers exquisite views.
WALKTHROUGH. The XO DFNDR 9 is designed as a dayboat/weekender for two and she offers potential for adventurous outings. The forward cabin is accessible from the helm and the bow. She comes with a heater and can be fully buttoned up with isinglass.
TEST VIDEO. The 465 SUV is a premium-class Australian build right-sized for an experienced couple to enjoy extended cruising, fishing and diving. She provides mezzanine seating to watch the action or have an al fresco lunch. The master is forward and she accommodates six total.
PRE-OWNED YACHT. This nicely-equipped, eye-catching Monte Carlo has three plush staterooms and three heads, designer furnishings in the salon, hydraulic swim platform with dingy cradle and everything you might want for extended cruising. Power is twin Cummins QSC 8.3 diesels with joysticks and “Skyhook.” She has a bow thruster and a full complement of Garmin electronics including radar.
CRUISING. The waters around Irvington and Kilmarnock on Chesapeake Bay offer a quiet escape with boater-friendly inns and restaurants, water-oriented entertainments and an opportunity for some vineyard-hopping, among other attractions.
SAFETY. “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst” is definitely good advice when it comes to a first-aid kit aboard. You may never need anything but an occasional bandage, but just in case something worse happens it’s wise to have what you’ll need until you can reach professional help.
Built in 1972 as a Russian Ice-Class hydrographic "survey" ship, her real job was tracking NATO ships and submarines in the North Atlantic. When the USSR collapsed in 1991, she was snapped up by western bargain-hunters. But as we often say, in boating those looking for a good deal often get a good deal less.
