De Antonio D60 aft

OPEN PLAN AT 60’ From astern, the D60 reads like a clean inboard design, yet her outboards are mounted beneath the aft sunpad rather than on the transom. Because she can be powered by 4 x 600-hp Mercury outboards that have 8 counter-rotating props, she can maximize torque to the water and will run faster than she ever could with inboard diesels. Her interior is innovative and exceptional because the outboards open up interior space.  She can be seen at the Palm Beach International Boat Show.

NOT A BLOWN POWERHEAD A Yamaha 200hp starts clicking near the oil filter and pushing air out of the crankcase. Leak-down numbers point toward head gasket trouble, and the powerhead comes apart piece by piece. But even after reassembly, the noise remains. The real culprit hides deeper, and it’s not what most mechanics would expect. A teardown worth watching.

Practice Question - Answer

C) propose or answer one or two blast whistle signals given by the other vessel if passing within half a mile

Under Inland Rules, when vessels are meeting head-on in a channel, they must exchange one or two blast whistle signals to agree on which side they will pass before they are within half a mile of each other.
